The mother of 17-year-old Brittany Drexel, who disappeared while on spring break in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has identified her daughter on grainy hotel surveillance video. In the video, a girl wearing shorts and flip-flops walks through the doors of a hotel.
1. Swine flu is rising in Nort Texas
Nine new cases of swine flu were confirmed for North Texas on Saturday, according to Tarrant County Public Health.
That brings the total number of swine flu cases confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control to 14, the agency said. It is not known where the new cases are located as the county health department’s laboratory tests for a 33-county region.
Four Cleburne High School students tested positive for swine flu, prompting Cleburne Independent School District to extend its district-wide school closings through next week.
“We are following the recommendations of both the CDC and the Texas Department of State Health Services in keeping our schools closed through May 8,” said Cleburne superintendent Ronny Beard.
Tests on three additional Cleburne High SChool students were sent to the CDC on Friday, the district said. Cleburne schools expect to reopen on May 11. Read more here
