George Zimmerman’s attorneys said Tuesday they have lost contact with him and can no longer represent him.

In a stunning press conference, defense lawyers Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner revealed Zimmerman has not returned their phone calls, emails or text messages since Sunday.

They also said Zimmerman has gone rogue, reaching out on his own to the special prosecutor investigating Trayvon Martin’s death against their advice and even calling Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“We are withdrawing as counsel for Mr. Zimmerman. We have lost contact with him. He’s gone on his own,” Uhrig told reporters in front of the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center in Sanford, Fla.

“I still believe he was acting in self-defense that night. I just can’t proceed to represent a client who does not stay in contact with me.”

Sonner said he last communicated with Zimmerman on Sunday via text. But since then Zimmerman, who went into hiding after Martin’s Feb. 26 death, has been out of reach, the attorney said.

“We learned that he called Sean Hannity directly,” Sonner said. “We believe he spoke directly with Sean off the record.”

Uhrig said Zimmerman, 28, called the office of special prosecutor Special Prosecutor Angela Corey earlier Tuesday, but she refused to speak with him without counsel.
