HBO renews ‘Boardwalk Empire’: TV News: Series cruises into fourth season

Variety•The period drama starring Steve Buscemi has been nominated for drama series Emmys in each of its first two seasons and has averaged 2.5 million viewers through the first two episodes of its third season. The season-two finale was the show’s highest-rated episode of 2011 with 3.0 million viewers.

Use #nohomophobes to stop the hate on Twitter: “Faggot” has been tweeted more than 2.5 million times since July

edge•A website that popped up this week is making headlines for tracking how many times anti-gay slurs are used on Twitter.

Nohomophobes.com features several charts and graphs that track Twitter users who use the words “faggot,” “so gay,” “no homo” and “dyke,” in their tweets. The cleverly named site, also has a live feed that shows the actual homophobic tweets soon after they’re made.

As of July 5, 2012, the website claims that “faggot” has been used a staggering 2,538,063 times and counting. Tweeters have used the controversial phrase, “so gay” 906,664 times and “no homo” has been tweeted 832,309 times. “Dyke” has been written 351, 206 times on the social networking website.

A Fort Lauderdale man has sued a Starbucks in suburban Boca Raton, claiming he was fired shortly after he told his supervisor he was HIV-positive. Former Starbucks manager Stephen Barbosa, 34, said he was fired after he returned to work from a two-month medical leave, according to a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court.His supervisor allegedly accused him of manipulating the time clock and cited his repeated absences for his dismissal, the suit says, adding the action violated the Americans With Disability Act. Before the firing, Barbosa had worked as a Starbucks manager for four years.

L.A. City Councilman — Justin Bieber Should Have Been Arrested

Justin Bieber just got cited for speeding on the freeway, and the witness who called 911 — who happens to be an L.A. City Councilman — tells TMZ, Bieber should have been cuffed, locked up and stripped of his driving privileges.

Councilman Dennis Zine — who ironically was an LAPD motor officer for 18 years — was on the 101 Freeway when he saw Justin in his chrome Fisker Karma roaring down the freeway at speeds that Zine says exceeded100 mph.

Zine tells us …  Bieber was trying to shake a team of paparazzi (NOT TMZ) that was on his tail.

Zine says, “Bieber was driving like a maniac.  he was weaving in and out of traffic.  There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane.”

Zine says, “If I was on patrol, I would have arrested him for reckless driving.  I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship.  He was a maniac.”

Zine also says the paparazzi were incredibly irresponsible, driving on the shoulder of the freeway and causing an extreme hazard.  After he was pulled over, at least 4 paps were swarming Bieb’s car (video to come).

Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, tells TMZ, Zine “is just a councilman looking for a headline.”  Braun says Justin was cited for going 80 mph and he was being chased by the paparazzi.  Braun adds a short time after getting ticketed, the paparazzi resumed their pursuit and Justin called 911.

Law enforcement sources tell us … the CHP is investigating the paparazzi for creating a hazardous situation.

I am completely obsessed with this celebrity gossip blog, http://www.dlisted.com. I find myself reading it all the time, whether it’s on my iPhone or at home. Now that I work from home I actually read it less than when I worked at an office. Reading dlisted was totally my escape from the boredom of my job. I just can’t get enough! The guy who writes it has a mean sense of humor, so my husband thinks it’s mean-spirited and thinks I shouldn’t read it. He hates it so much that he has threatened to take away my clear wireless privileges! I know the blog can get a little catty, but I really don’t think it’s that bad. The way I see it, if you are a celebrity and you do stupid things, you are opening yourself up to that kind of criticism. How am I supposed to feel bad for people who make millions of dollars a year for being pretty and only mildly talented? It’s not like I’m out there writing this stuff. I really don’t get why my husband has such distaste for it. Sometime I think he’s just jealous that I’m not paying all of my attention to him.

2010 Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest: Orange Carpet has all the stars including Justin Bieber (Video)

September 6, 2010 — The 2010 Nickelodeon Mega Music Festival had the annual red carpet — umm, actually it was called orange carpet for the evening to honor all the stars who showed up tonight. This special musical event was held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and had many celebrities who walked the carpet. Justin Bieber, Colbie Caillat, Wyclef Jean, Rico Rodriguez, Wendy Williams, John Leguizamo, Sherri Shepherd, and The Fresh Beat Band were a few of the faces seen on the orange carpet.
