Today marks an exciting day for both VEVO and Boxee with the launch of the new Boxee box and the VEVO application for Boxee.

For those of you who haven’t tried it out, Boxee’s free, downloadable software for your computer or TV will change what you expect from TV. It’s one interface that’s tailor made for your TV, but with total access to everything you watch on your laptop – TV shows, movies, music and photos from websites or from your hard drive or home network.

The VEVO Boxee application was born of a mutual vision to re-create the fondly remembered days of the eighties and early nineties when you could turn on your TV and get a continuous stream of music videos, perfect for a party or a night on your couch.  We wanted to take this experience and improve it by putting you, the fans, in charge of what you want to watch. You’re the VJ, in control of VEVO’s massive library of nearly 30, 000 music videos from over 7,000 artists.  You can browse and search the library or dive into one of the many VEVO programmed channels, playlists or original series.

Thanks to Boxee’s built in social media features, you can Tweet your favorite videos to friends as you watch them, and sync your Facebook page with Boxee to get personalized video recommendations – all from the comfort of your couch.

Boxee is a young company which came to market with a cool idea and their mission really resonates with VEVO. Like VEVO, Boxee has grown quickly to 1.4M users worldwide.  It’s all about giving users access to the best possible content – the best looking picture, the best sound, through the best possible interface.  For those who don’t want to go the “D.I.Y.” route by plugging their computer or laptop into the TV, check out the new Boxee Box!  It’s a snap to set up and comes pre-loaded with all the most popular apps including VEVO.

Now fans have even more options where, when and how they enjoy music videos, whether it‘s on the computer, mobile phone or internet connected television. Which one is your favorite?
