When Tiara Parks Got Out Of A Vehicle Things Got Really Bad

The unexpected happen to this 23 year old mother of one. She didn’t know just exiting a car would cause her family life to change forever.

A 23-year-old woman who was fatally shot Saturday night in Chicago’sRoseland neighborhood is the daughter of a Cook County sheriff’s deputy.

Tiara Parks is the daughter of Michael Parks, who works in the courts, according to a Cook County Sheriff’s Office. She was also a mother.

Police said Parks and two men were getting out of a car at about 9 p.m. near West 114th Street and South Stewart Avenue when an unknown person walked up and started shooting. About 20 people were in the street when shots were fired.

“They were getting out, a car pulled up and shot, shot, shot, shot, shot,” said Tay Tattoo, who lives near where the shooting occurred.

The driver of the car which Parks was exiting drove the trio to Roseland Hospital.

Parks was shot in the head and pronounced dead at a hospital.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the lower back and a 27-year-old man was shot in the left leg.

Family said that Tiara Parks was a working mother and a college graduate.

“She’s a great mom. She loved her baby. She loved her family,” said her cousin, who declined to give her name.

The shooting occurred steps from Alex Haley Academy, where signs identify it as a Safe Zone.

“Once the lights go out, there’s nothing that the kids can do,” Tattoo said. “they just stand out here … If they had better programs for kids they’d have something to do.”
