Screenwriter Sues Tyler Perry … Claims Credit For ‘Temptation’ Movie – top10queen@gmail.com

Tyler Perry‘s ‘Temptation’ has been called everything from “beyond dumb” to “flamboyantly bad” — yet a small-time screenwriter is suing, claiming Perry jacked the universally panned script from him.

It’s the classic Hollywood sob story … a man from Gary, Ind., says Perry stole his idea for “Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor,” which didn’t wow critics, but did rake in $49 million.

In the suit, William James says the plot is similar to “Lovers Kill,” which he wrote in 2009. The lawsuit is light on details … it just says both films center on a married couple … the wife is tempted by another man, and the affair ruins the marriage.

Apparently James hasn’t seen “Unfaithful” … “Legends of the Fall” …  “The English Patient” — need we go on?

But here’s the best part: James doesn’t even know for sure that Perry ever saw his screenplay — in the suit, he claims he gave a copy to “an associate” of Oprah Winfrey, hoping it would make it to Perry.

Reps for Perry and Lionsgate … the movie’s distributor, also named in the suit … had no comment.

Madea couldn’t be reached .. but we’re pretty sure she’d have a strong opinion.

TMZ EXCLUSIVE- Spike Lee needs to relax … so says “Chappelle’s Show” star Donnell Rawlings, who tells TMZ, the n-word-filled “Django Unchained” is a fun movie with a happy ending … and THAT’S IT.

Rawlings was out in L.A. last night when he came to Quentin Tarantino‘s defense — blasting Spike Lee for his criticism of Quentin’s usage of the n-word in the film (110 times to be exact) … which Spike called disrespectful to his ancestors.

Donnell said, “Spike Lee, I know you been talking a lot of sh*t. You don’t like nobody’s movies. You don’t like Tyler Perry movies. You don’t like Quentin movies. I don’t even think you like YOUR movies.”

Donnell added, “If you don’t understand, Quentin’s movie is a Quentin movie. It’s not a real story … It’s only a damn movie.”

By the way, Donnell’s favorite part of the movie? “NO SLAVE VOICE!” You gotta see his explanation … pretty damn funny.

US peanut butter recall spreads to other nut products, major retailers

A New Mexico company has expanded its recall of peanut butter and almond butter to include cashew butters, tahini and blanched and roasted peanut products.

Sunland Inc. sells its nuts and nut butters to large groceries and other food distributors around the country. The company recalled products under multiple brand names after salmonella illnesses were linked Trader Joe’s Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter, one of the brands manufactured by Sunland.

Honda Recalls 600,000 Accords To Fix Faulty Hoses

DETROIT (AP) — Honda is recalling 600,000 Accord midsize cars in the U.S. and Canada to fix a faulty power steering hose that can leak fluid and cause a fire.The recall affects Accords with V-6 engines from the 2003 through 2007 model years. Honda has a report of one fire but no injuries or crashes

As I mention in a post a while ago that Tyler Perry was doing this movie, it was suppose to be out next year but hey what do you know it will be out this year. I am truly happy to see that also I want to say I love the movie posters, nice. Now about the movie and cast sorry to say Jill Scott is not in this movie although she should have been. Lionsgate and Tyler Perry appear to be tossing their hat into this year’s Oscar race.

The studio announced this morning that Perry’s next picture, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf,” will premiere on Nov. 5 … and not in 2011 as was expected.

The star-studded film, an adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s landmark 1975 stage study of the African-American female experience, packs Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Janet Jackson, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Loretta Devine, Tessa Thompson and Thandie Newton into its ensemble.

Clearly, the studio feels Perry’s drama can compete in the annual awards race. Perry had success just last year as a producer for Lee Daniels’ “Precious,” which won two Oscars (for screenplay and co-star Mo’Nique).

More on “Colored Girls” as it begins to screen, but this is a very good sign for Lionsgate, a vote of confidence for Perry, and a shakeup for the still forming Oscar picture.
